I grew up among teachers, architects and artists. I have lived and traveled in the United States and other countries, and thus attended many different types of schools. These influences continue to nurture my passion for learning, teaching, and writing, and contribute to my desire to support students who face challenges. These experiences also inspire my writing.
Upon my retirement from classroom teaching, I turned to tutoring children who need help with gaining and solidifying reading, spelling, and writing skills. I care deeply that students be given the chance to master the tools they need to be more independent and confident learners. I care that learning not be a painful struggle and seek to build on students’ strengths especially those who learn differently from others.
As a poet, my heart lies in cities and woods, libraries and rivers, museums and stillness. I enjoy people, music, and seeing and learning something new. My writing expresses how I look at and experience the world around me. I see my life as a fabric of colors and fibers woven from my experiences. I like to think my space to learn and live shares the same spinning globe as others
